plenty o' room
sticky bee sez:
ok, ok. one more thing has to be said on the issue of the homo-rainbow. last thing, i swear. but i just talked to cat and she said that when she moved to rome she saw rainbow flags hanging out of a ton of windows. she thought is was surprising that italy was not only so gay, but so gay-friendly. she later realized that the rainbow simply signifies 'peace' in italy. they were peace flags, not gay flags.
i'm going to have to go ahead and take this as another argument for my side. the gay rainbow is causing confusion for north americans abroad. and 'gay' is so tied up with the rainbow for us now that wherever we see it we go on the look-out for a gay parade.
also: i stopped into a pub last night for a study-break for an hour to meet a couple of friends and there was a band playing. they played 'hotel california.' i was dumbfounded. is this still happening? was everyone going to stand there and let it go on? they did more than that. people with eyes closed and an arm around their boozy buddies yelled along with the lyrics. un-fucking-believable.
it left me a little shaken. i came home and sat in my room with the lights out for awhile trying to erase it all from my brain.
livin it up,
stickeeeee
